Hi there amazing people! It’s been a while since I posted here right? Well ya, I have been kind of busy actually with exams, internships etc. Now as I am in the second week of my winter vacation I decided to revisit the blog and make a post.

Well December is my favourite month. That’s because it’s my birthday month after all. I have a famous birthday by the way. So any guesses?? Yup I share with my birthday with Jesus Christ.

So I came across some interesting facts about my favourite month that I would like to share with you all! Keep reading!

  1. “Decem”ber December is the last month in the Gregorian calendar. However, December used to be the tenth month of the Roman year. Its name is based on the Latin term ‘decem’ which means ten.

  2. Naughty Santa Saint Nickolas, who would eventually be called Santa Claus, was originally the patron saint of children, thieves and pawnbrokers!

  3. December in Other Languages Chinese (Mandarin) – shí’èryuè Danish – december French – décembre Italian – dicembre Latin – December Spanish – diciembre

  4. December Dentists According to a 2011 survey, more dentists have birthdays in December than in any other month! (Don’t worry I am not a dentist and neither do I plan to be one:P )

  5. A Chocolaty Affair 27th of December is celebrated as National Chocolate Day. (Of course, we all know, December is a month of celebrations ;) )

  6. Boxing Day Boxing Day is a weird holiday. No one is sure when it started or how it got its name. Celebrated in many British-influenced lands, Boxing Day is traditionally the day after Christmas. It may be an offshoot of St. Stephen’s Day, which is what the Irish call it. In Canada and England, it has turned into a shopping frenzy like America’s Black Friday. The “box” in Boxing Day may be the donation bins of the Anglican Church that were opened for the poor Dec. 26. Or the name may come from the boxed presents that British aristocrats gave to the help the day after Christmas.

  7. 29-Caesar-31 Until 46 B.C., December only had 29 days. But the Roman statesman Julius Caesar added two days to December, which made it 31 days.

  8. Monkey Day Monkey Day is an unofficial holiday celebrated internationally on every year December 14. The holiday was started in 2000 when founder Casey Sorrow jokingly scribbled Monkey Day on a friend’s calendar, and first celebrated by Lansing residents and art students at Michigan State University. It gained notoriety when Casey Sorrow and Eric Millikin’s own comic strip, Fetus-X, began promoting it online along with other cartoonists. Since then, Monkey Day has been celebrated internationally, across countries like the U.S., Canada, Germany, and the United Kingdom.

Liked that?? Go share with your friends! :)
