Durga puja this year is Going For a Step further ... Here is An update for the sky high Idol is being built in Deshapriya park Durgotsab By artist Mintu Pal. They say the idol Height is going to be about 70 ft Along with the accessories and decoration ! :P And the even more wonderful thing is there is going to be a Pandal (Mandir) as well around it....!! The idol is made of Something called Fibre Glass compound to make it a bit light-weight.
Workers are working day and night on this huge beautiful thing and as of now its not even half done... :) Still We know it will be one thrilling sight this puja season.. ;)
So of the many Large Idols in India ... I had seen only two other till now...

And this one is definitely going up the List... :P
[Okay.. so the updated post goes a bit traumatic ... apparently there was no pandal around the idol itself and the place was swarming with people like crazy.. even in the adjacent roads n traffic was not moving like ever... there were breakouts occassionally and too much crowd got about six people dead :O ! This was only the first 2 days... the rest of the story is not known as the place is a total shut-down till now... :( I guess doing something extraordinary n big doesn't always come with a lot of Happiness for all...n festivals are supposed to be all about happiness :( ]
